The Lakes Region
of western Rutland County in Vermont is perfect for just about every
lifestyle. Sometimes called "Vermont's West Coast," the area offers
access to higher education, the arts and museums. While the region is
comprised of small, quiet country towns, the big cities of the Northeast are
easily accessible by car, train or
plane. New York City is just a 4 1/2 hour drive away, and Boston 3
1/2 hours. The cosmopolitan atmosphere of Montreal is less than four
hours to the north. In addition to numerous lakes, state parks and
golf courses, there are five major ski
and recreation areas within a short driving distance (Killington,
Pico, Stratton, Bromley and Okemo).
The area has a long and colorful
history and boasts many libraries, museums, and historical sites.
